Moroccan Oil Hair Treatment

moroccan-oil1

I haven’t been to a hair salon or makeup trailer yet that doesn’t have this in their go-to product stash. It’s no surprise that Moroccan Hair Oil has become a cult favorite and  Allure’s Readers’ Choice Award Winner  2012 and 2011. Hair loves this multi-tasker.

A few drops of this liquid gold post-shampooing makes this the perfect leave-in conditioner/ detangler. Hair drinks it up in seconds, leaving tresses super-soft and lustrous, with no added weight. As a styling product, it speeds up drying time, while imparting extra shine and manageability. And it’s superb as a treatment, nourishing your scalp, increasing elasticity, healing damaged hair and protecting it from UV damage. But remember, a little goes along way. It will take you ages to go through a bottle!

But my two favorite uses are as a hair refresher and a mask. For those days I don’t get get around to shampooing, it’s the perfect reset, calming frizz and wiping out dullness.  All the poofiness and roughness is gone, leaving strands revived, hydrated and enveloped in a heavenly musky scent! And when hair feels extra abused, I slather it on, heat it up with my blow dryer, and leave it in overnight. Hair feels renewed, hydrated and silky for weeks.

And that’s not all. Haven’t tried this one yet but according to Moroccan’s site, a few drops massaged into hair before coloring, helps the dye penetrate and saturate your strands more deeply. The results? Hyper-vibrant color and shine!

Jao All Over Long Lasting Natural Body Goe Oil

I hate you Jao. Because I love you too much. I wish I had a free lifetime supply because then I wouldn’t be so miserly when applying you. At 30z a tube, it’s just not enough when all I want to do is repeatedly dip myself head to toe in a vat of you. In fact, that is one of the many reasons why I’m obsessed with this decadent indulgence. You can apply Jao’s All OverNatural Body Goe Oil anywhere and everywhere. Hands, feet, face, lips, legs, hair. This super thick cream melts into an oil and sinks right into the skin, for deep penetrating hydration that’s never greasy, heavy or sticky. And best of all, it doesn’t fade after a few hours. My skin still feels nourished and moisturized a full 24 hours later. It tames flyaways, adds shine to your hair,  nourishes cuticles and cracked heels, soothes irritated skin. All that and it’s exceptional as an aftershave cream, calming and replenishing the skin with zero irritation, zero stinging.

Derived from 28 plant fruit and flower oils and butters, Goe is 100% truly natural and organic. Just look at the ingredients.  100% pure. Hemp, Kukuinut, Chamomile, Rosehip, Meadowfoam, Grapeseed, Mango, Pumpkin, Jojoba, Shea and the list goes on. A powerhouse rich in omegas, essential fatty acids, and vitamins A, E, C, B, G, and Beta Carotene. Luckily the smallest amount goes a long way, which makes the list price of $38 go down a little bit easier.

In these wintery months, dehydrated skin becomes the norm, but Jao’s Goe will put an end to that. The results are immediate from the very first application. And the light Tahitian Monoi scent will become an instant addiction. It will lift you into a euphoric state and your skin will thank you for it!

Andrea EyeQ’s Eye Make-Up Remover Pads, Oil Free

Getting eye makeup off at night can be a real beast! But not when Andrea EyeQs gets involved! These pads will remove the toughest of eye makeup in one or two gentle swipes. That’s it!  Because each bottle comes with 65 pads that are saturated with the right amount of remover. Other brands force me to use 6 or 7 pads, thanks to their ineffective formula and dried out pads.

These oil-free gems will leave you with no oily film that blurs your vision, no streaks of  eyeliner you can’t rub out . Your eyes are free of residue to reapply makeup if need be and safe and ready for your contact lenses. And the added aloe vera soothes and softens lines.

For a bionic eye makeup remover, look no further.

“To Comb or Not to Comb, Messy is In!!” by MakeUp Artist, Jenny Karl

So, you spent the day at the beach frolicking in the salty water and sunbathing on the warm sand, and you just lost track of the time.  Now you have less than ten minutes to get ready for the big party you need to look fabulous for.  Well no worries, because messy is in style.  The beach look or even the just rolled out of bed look seems to be the new fab hair style.  Its simple, it works with any outfit, and it takes no time at all to achieve.

Many celebs have rocked the messy hair look.  Jennifer Aniston took her long, straight locks to beach-y waves many a time. Jessica Biel and Mandy Moore have also followed suit.  And if they can do it, you can too! If your hair is long and naturally wavy, this is an easy look for you to accomplish.  However, if your hair is short or straight, you may need to create that beach-y look with products.

Most beauty supply stores, salons, or websites that cater to hair care carry products that emulate that sandy salt water that is the bread and butter of creating this look. If you have access to the ocean, bottle up some of that all natural hair potion and use it as needed along with my good friend the blow dryer to recreate this style.  You can also cook up a batch of your own salt water potion at home by combining some Aquafina, or your bottled water of choice, and a pinch or ten of household salt.  I prefer the kosher variety.  Combine the water and salt in a large spray bottle, shake it up, and spray it on your lovely locks until you smell the seaweed.

Although you may need to do a little hairspray action or a minor wet down, whatever you do, don’t even think about putting a comb or brush to those chaotic locks! Let your hair flow naturally and give it the freedom to do its own thing.  You can also coordinate your makeup and wardrobe with your funky beach hair. Give yourself a bronzed glow on your cheekbones, put a dab of sheer, shiny gloss on your lips, and lastly, apply a vibrant eyeliner and some mascara to finish off the look. Once your makeup and hair are complete, choose a casual but trendy sundress or a cute tank and jeans from your closet and wear it with confidence. In a time where fashion do’s and don’ts depend more on the person than the season, just remember that confidence is always a fashion do and your best asset no matter what season.

The moral of this story, embrace the knots and the mess. Give your hair the power. Let it wear the pants once in a while. I personally never try to argue with my hair because I never win!  Once in a blue moon I muster up the energy to try and tame the beast. But who has time for that!  So, I have learned to listen to my hair.  It has a mind of its own and I respect that.

Chi Shine Infusion

I can’t tell you how many bottles of this product I have bought. Why? Because it’s an all-in-one powerhouse! Unbelievable weightless shine being the #1 reason! True thermal protection from irons and blow dryers is #2. And smooth frizz control being #3. This is truly a one-stop-shopping product!

Best way to use it is a quick light spray. No need to overdo as this is a powerful stuff. And remember, this is a shine spray not a nail down fly-aways tool. Since it won’t weigh you hair down, that means fly-aways will still need your traditional hair spray or pomade for that.

Let me re-emphasize the unstoppable shine. Endless shine. Diamond shine! Most shine sprays fade after a few hours or weigh hair down but not this Chi spray. I have tried countless products and to date, this is THE ticket for a polished mirror shine that is light as air!
