Let’s face it. After a few hours of wear, even the best concealers will start to fade. I have searched high and low for a concealer that won’t let me down. Now, while I’ve discovered some brilliant concealers, a no-need-to-touch-up concealer has yet to surface. Luckily, I stumbled upon a product that makes my fave concealers budge-proof, crease-proof, heat-proof, and fade-proof. This is going into the Must Haves List!
The Smashbox Under Eye Primer is a true multi-tasker. It’s not only hydrating but super-lightweight, with a silky texture that blends in smoothly and effortlessly. Loaded with caffeine and peptides, it also provides incredible nutrition for the skin. And the optical brighteners in this soft pink formula perk up those dark circles before you even add concealer.
But the best part? Once you pair this primer with concealer, concealer is locked in placed and looks completely natural. Those pesky fine lines disappear and even puffiness seems to be reduced (never an easy thing to accomplish with any product). All that and you need only the tiniest amount. One tube will last you a long time, making the $29 price tag more palatable.
From The Smashbox Site:
• Key immediate benefits:

The dreaded international flight. How to do right by your skin while 30,000 feet in the air for 10 hours? Just read on!
As important as it is to stay hydrated on a regular basis by drinking water it is doubly as important when you are getting ready to and while flying. Try to double up on your water in-take in the days leading up to your flight. If you aren’t regularly taking a fish oil then add it into your daily regime. The fatty acids in fish oil are proven to both help the brain and cardiovascular function and help skin cells retain moisture. It’s a good idea to also throw some in your carry-on for in-flight or during your time away. It’s a powerful punch for something that doesn’t take up valuable shopping space in luggage.
IN FLIGHT OPERATION
Even if you pick a couple of these tips it will do wonders for your arrival.
1. Drink lots of water even if it means getting up multiple times to the frustration to the aisle passenger.
2. Drink hot water with lemon, refreshing, hydrating, and lemon is key to metabolic boosting!
3. Use a Hydrating mist every few hours to keep your skin feeling refreshed and stop it from getting tight. Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs & Rosewater
4. During the flight, in addition to spritzing your mist, try to re-apply your moisturizer. The constant air conditioning can suck the life out of your skin, so even if your skin is usually oily, you’ll notice it absorbing moisturizers much faster.
5. Apply lip balm. The same applies for the lips in that the cabin air will suck the nourishment up so try Smith’s Rosebud Salve, $6.00 or Caudalie Lip Conditioner, $12.00 both available at Sephora.
6. Sanitize – A breeding ground for germs it’s important to make sure you land healthy on the other end. The worst would be to find yourself on an amazing vacation and coming down with a cold 2 days later. Sanitize your hands with L’Occitane Lavender Clean Hand Gel from the Provence to Go Collection, $7.00.

Before you land give yourself a quick face wash with either a rinse free cleanser or a cleanser wipe. Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes $4.99 are some of my favorite nourishing wipes! They are non-comedogenic, use no alcohol, and have the added benefits of PRO-VITAMIN B5 which are known to help restore, soften and smooth skin.
Then make sure to re-apply your moisturizer and touch up your make-up with the bare minimum. To mask the jet lag try a concealer, YSL Touche Eclat Radiant Touch, $40, to cover up dark circles and redness. Then add a couple coats of mascara, such as Covergirl LashBlast Length Mascara, $6.94, to open up your eyes. And lastly, a lip or cheek stain in a soft pink or peach shade to hide any redness from the flight. If you go with a creme it also has the added benefit of creating a dewy look with appears more youthful and energized. It’s better to look clean and effortless while traveling.
The Creme De La Mer line is famous for its insanely expensive skincare, with the La Mer Moisturizing Cream reaching cult status. Yet its makeup line goes mostly unnoticed. In fact, I would vote this La Mer gem as the most under-appreciated concealer I’ve come across.
The price is steep at $70! Absurd in fact. But I have owned my Radiant Concealer for ages, use it daily, and it looks practically new. You need only the tiniest amount to have full coverage. Those dark circles will be instantly airbrushed away with just the thinnest layer of this product. No cakey pebbliness no dryness, no creasing. And it boasts a Broad Spectrum SPF of 25. Most eye creams and concealers have zero SPF, which is astounding since the skin around the eyes is the most delicate, but lucky La Mer takes care of that!
Now the closest thing to this concealer is the lauded Cle De Peau Concealer, but La Mer blows it out of the water! The unique texture is in truth a cream but feels like the finest powder to the touch. And when it’s applied, it looks and feels like second skin. The tiniest swipe covers both eyes, erasing all signs of fatigue and discoloration. All that’s left is well-rested, bright, flawless skin.
But there is one major drawback. Their limited color selection! With only 3 colors, it’s a crying shame that this product won’t work for everyone!
1) As with all concealers, always start with well-hydrated moisturized skin.
2) Always set your concealer with the lightest setting powder or spray. It helps keep the creases away and prevent fading during the day!
3) The little brush the Radiant Concealer comes with is amazing! It makes it a cinch to apply.
4) The coverage is buildable. So apply as much as you need. But always work it in thin layers.
5) For extra dark circles, use a neutralizer first. Maybelline’s Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Neutralizer or Giorgio Armani’s Maestro Eraser are super effective.
Nothing can make your appearance look more fatigued than tired eyes. And nothing can repair it like a great concealer and eye cream, the two products I have spent the most money and research on. While, the dream eye cream still eludes me, Chanel’s Correcteur Perfection Long Lasting Concealer might be the best all around concealer I have come across.
Finding a concealer that doesn’t settle into fine lines, that doesn’t get pebbly, and actually conceals is a tall order. But Chanel has managed to fulfill it. With its gorgeous gel-based texture, this concealer is extremely smooth and lightweight. It glides on like a second skin while still delivering the right amount of coverage and hydration. It’s thick enough to mask those pesky dark circles and thin enough to not look creasy. Chanel’s Correcteur Perfection builds coverage effortlessly. One coat is light to medium. A second coat brings you to a full medium coverage that still looks natural. This concealer manages to brighten up your under-eyes with amazing all day staying power.
On extreme dark circle days, I might add on an extra coat of the bigger guns, like Creme De La Mer’s or Cle De Peau’s Concealer. But on most days (and dark circles are with me on all days), Chanel’s Correcteur Perfection is the perfect weapon! The other good news? One tube goes a really long way, making the hefty price tag feel a little less daunting!
Tips: For all day wear, I often set concealer with a little powder to keep it creaseless.
For added brightness and lift, apply to the inner eye corners next to the nose all the way up to the brow and blend,
Apply around the nostrils to take the red out, to create an even more flawless complexion.

Not a fan of those creases that run from the nose to the corners of your mouth? Do those pesky nasolabial folds seem even more pronounced on dehydrated days? Here is a quick fix (besides drinking tons of water).
Start by taking your favorite concealer and draw some quick lines/ cat whiskers as illustrated in the photo above. Then pat in each line from the bottom up, following the direction you drew it in. Blend until the creases are perfectly disguised!
By working against the direction of the crease, you can blur the depth of the fold, creating a lifting effect. You can even use a highlighter pen like the cult classic YSL Touche Éclat, but I find a concealer stick, in a shade lighter than my skin lasts longer. Try Smashbox’s Camera Ready Full Coverage Concealer for great coverage (as the name promises) in stick form.
This trick also works wonders on the elevens, the frown lines between your eyebrows. Draw 2 lines like an equal sign over the number 11 looking lines. And blend, blend, blend.
